We are pleased to announce the addition of a unique and innovative private pay pediatric therapy option that is new to us but has been achieving significant results in the United States and Europe in recent years. This program provides intensive occupational and physical therapy 4 hours a day, five days per week over a three week period. Children two years old and up with a diagnosis of cerebral palsy, developmental delays, traumatic brain injury, post stroke, ataxia, athetosis, hypertonia or hypotonia may be eligible for this program.
The name of the program, “SuitABILITY®” was coined by our Easter Seals DuPage, IL. affiliate because of the intensive therapy program in combination with the use of the TheraSuit™ (therapy suit). Using the Universal Exercise Unit, a child is able to perform muscle strengthening and stretching activities with gravity eliminated which promotes independent and isolated movement. The TheraSuit™, a soft dynamic orthotic, works to improve and change proprioception (pressure input) to joints, muscles, tendons and ligaments while at the same time providing proper alignment to the body.
Benefits of the SuitABILITY® program can include improved head, neck and trunk control, improved balance and coordination, increased control of movement, improved body and spatial awareness, strengthening, improved speech production and fluency, improved gait pattern and increased development of fine and gross motor skills. For more information, please contact Easter Seals Superior California at 916-485-6711.
